Q: My sister in-law recently gave me a Canon EOS 10D digital camera body. Having only used point and shoot cameras, what would be a good beginners lens to get for this camera? Should I get kit lens to start with?

A: Do you know?

Nicely done, but I wonder what if you had gone with a horizontal (4x6) format cropping out all of the boulder in the foreground and most of the trees in the background. That would have given you a very nice upper left to lower right diagonal "rule of thirds" composition.
