[Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 1101 Lebanon Road, Nashville, Tennessee, October, 2009]
The Annual Confederate Cemetery Tour will be held on Saturday, October 9, at Nashville’s Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
I would like to take this opportunity to invite any member of the JPG Family to attend as my guest. I am the guy selling the tickets, so please identify yourself when you arrive (if I don’t already know you). The offer includes members of your immediate family.
The Cemetery Tour offers a treasure trove of photo opportunities.
It takes about 75 minutes to complete the tour. The first group will begin the tour at 4:30 P.M., with successive groups beginning the tour at 15-minute intervals. The last group will begin the tour at 8:30 P.M. Come early for the best shots, and then get in line with a group whenever you would like to.
Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and a light jacket or sweater. You may wish to carry a flashlight if touring after dark.
I hope to see you there.
**********
I took this photo at last year’s tour. I like this photo because these boys – all in their teens – accurately depict the average Confederate soldier. Their uniforms are correct to a fault. And, they have a look of determination in their faces. The Cemetery Tour features dozens of soldiers and ladies in period costume.
Thank you for the spotlight, BB!

Wish I could be there, but will be on my way home from Quebec. Perhaps next year! BTW..I love this shot. You did a better job of capturing serious faces that I did.

I'll be with you in spirit Cap'n! Have a wonderful day. This image has such an historic feel about it, depicting, as you say, exactly how the young men would look in the day.

They look so young to be fighting!! An excellent photo....I just wish I were able to attend the tour! If it wasn't held the day after Jimmy's 70th birthday, and if our daughter and grandkids weren't going to be here, then maybe............ You'll just have to make it up to me with a visit out west!!

Such a wonderful portrait of these fine reenactors, Richard! The second one from the left looks just llike my cousin, Tommy. Dave and I both would love so much to be there....as you know Dave crafts muzzleloader rifles, the Kentucky Longrifles, for reenactors. Magnificant portrait!! Wishing you a wonderful time. Soon I hope we'll make it down South again!!
