I remember my time in the trees. Climbing, swinging, maybe just sitting between branches hidden from the world. The elm leaves blocking the heat of the summer sun. My mother would say " You're a natural born monkey." I was very proud of that fact. These days I'm fighting arthritis, high blood pressure, depression, and phobias. I struggle every day just to keep my head above water. You know.....Life was so much better when I was a monkey.

This tree reminds me so much of a very unique tree that my brother and I used to climb almost daily at San Antonio park in Oakland CA many years ago.
Sadly, one day we were headed to that tree for our daily climb and found that the parks dept. had cut it down! A sad day in the life of a child indeed.
Thanks for the bittersweet nostalgia.
