If you love an image (whether it's yours or someone else's) and want to make sure others get a chance to see it, you can “feature” it by choosing the “Spotlight” button.
When an image is Spotlighted, it receives enhanced visibility in premium spots throughout the site. Spotlighted images are rotated through these higher-visibility positions to ensure the best opportunity for the images to be seen by JPG users.
If you see a great photo that would make a perfect entry for one of our Shoot Out photo contests but it was uploaded by another user, now you can enter that photo in the contest and, if it wins, you get to share in the contest winnings.
Like a photo editor, if you've got an eye for great work, find it and submit it to a contest. If it wins, since you staked the entry fee, you'll take home part of the prize (the rest, of course, goes to the member who shot the image).

It's time for me to move on from JPG. I find it difficult, because I've spent countless hours scouring and perusing images posted by YOU that inspire me to be a better photographer.
Why am I moving on? I am not sure...I know I dislike the way certain images with graphic nudity can bypass the filter with ease and cause problems for people looking at photos with their kids. I personally don't have an issue with nudes unless they are just blatant porn...but I understand the fear of looking at your friends' photos with your kiddies and seeing a naked vagina show up in the Spotlight. It's just stupid. And if it's bothering friends of mine here...then it bothers me.
But really the main reason I'm leaving is time. I lack it. And sadly this place has done nothing for me but make friends and give me photos to look at. Being on a site like Flickr has gotten me a few sales and phone calls of interest...but JPG...nothing.
And the bigger problem here is that there is too much preferential treatment going on. For example: There have been numerous artists who join, post 3 photos and have one of those 3 posted in the main slideshow on the frontpage within days. It's the JPG editor's who pick those images...and I've complained, but it's still going on. Other artists who have been here for a long time end up watching newbies with friends on the inside get the special favors. Silliness.
And the activity is dropping...
Bottom line for me...with a full time job, family and photography, I have to prioritize my time to only the things of great benefit. And sadly, while I really do enjoy the people here and the friends I've made...it's just not doing anything for me.
I'd like to mention a few people...Kathleen Mercado...you have been an inspiration and great friend to me. Please don't quit making the beautiful images you do. Tricia Louvar is amazing...I love her stuff. Susan Littlefield has been one of the best friends I could possibly have here. Supportive and so complimentary. Than you Susan. Others...Bruce Miller, Regenia Brabham, Dennis Bartsch, Petra, Leslie Hunziker, Joe Failk, John Linton...I appreciate you all and people I forgot, like Jenny Murphy, Jo Haberman, Laurie Search...tons more I'm sure. I can't name you all right now.
This image is my farewell to you all...a long, fading dirt road near my old house. One of my favorite photos ever.

Thanks for everything.
(UPDATE: The lack of response to this farewell kind of gives me proof that it was time to go. None of the people I mentioned in the post even bothered to say anything. Blah.)
