Thanks for all the compliments, and for the Photo of the Week honor.
The issue of the background has been addressed here, and I just wanted to mention that I did originally intend to have a swirly backdrop too, but sadly I ran out of paint after only completing the top of the jacket. And I had no money to buy more paint.
So the next best choice was to go with just a plain background to offset the subject.
I think this actually works though, because it goes well with the title (a quote from Van Gogh himself): take me as I am.

no photoshop. no editing whatsoever. what you see is 2.5 hours of applying make-up and paint.
