The Pumpkin House, as 16 Chittenden Avenue is known, perches dramatically upon the edge of the cliff at West 186th Street in Washington Heights. Built in 1925 by Franklin Pagan and Harold Verna, the house cantilevers upon a steel-framed base. Its name owes itself to the impression the fenestration of the west façade makes of a jack-o-lantern as it captures the sunset's reflection over the Henry Hudson Parkway.
