I shot this image of a male Blue Jay through the window, two days ago patiently waiting for a gray squirrel on the feeder to get done eating ...It was snowing and wildlife eat more food to keep from freezing in cold weather...The blue jay was looking sad, but resigned sitting on the branch of a flowering crab apple tree while the squirrel kept eating like there was no tomorrow.

It must be a secret code among most birds to let the squirrels eat first...However, I have seen the Black Capped Chickadees eat with the squirrels on the feeder and they get along amicably.

I am adding this image to the growing up theme because I always remember
being taught as a child to be polite and wait my turn ...This bird so eloquently expresses in nature having to wait in snow and poor conditions for good things to happen...He is blessed for his strong will power and courage.

I love jays. They are such a hoot to watch. They don't seem to fear anything. We don't have blue jays here in Southern California. What we do have are the scrub jays. Every bit as much fun. "Yeah!" R (jpgmag.com)
