Kevin the Captain
Living on the street makes your emotions go wild.
Kevin was born in 1958 in Calgary, Canada, served in the Canadian Armed Forces and refused to go into the first Iraq war.
Kevin said he could be a millionaire if he wouldn't mess himself up with alcohol.
He recently lost his toes and can't walk properly anymore - you can find him sitting under the same bridge in downtown Calgary everyday, where shoppers go by, not noticing him.
Some sentences he said over and over again while I was talking to him.
"Mama ... I miss her."
"I'm not stupid."
"I'm not better than nobody else."
"I served in the CAF ... black suite and white shoes ... I am the captain."
"Fucked myself up."
"Lots of nice people out there."
At the end he asked me:
"You have a hand gun? Can you borrow it me once?"

It feels awkward to compliment you on this picture, because it's so sad, but it's a very good picture.

it's the composition that treally does it for me. him in foreground left, the lines of the wall and sidewalk leading us to the figures in the backsgoround. solid work.
