This picture was taken during the MALELDO festival in the province of Pampanga in the Philippines.
MALELDO commemorates the Passion and was also how Pampanga celebrates the Lenten season and holy week. One part of the commemoration is the re-enactment of the way of the cross and the sorrowful crucifixion of Christ.
Some people were crucified. People do this as their vow of sacrifice, some believe that their prayers will be granted if they do this while some ask for forgiveness of their sins.
This is one of my memorable experiences as a photographer. I had a chance to reflect and give thanks to all the blessing I have.
