I'm always fascinated by what people bring to an image like this on their own. I'd very much like to hear your own immediate, gut reaction to this image upon first time viewing, particularly the story that comes to mind for you.
Here are a few immediate reactions & comments I've received in person, which so far have been wonderfully varied, depending on where each person is coming from.
◙ My wonderfully crazy & childlike (woman) friend's immediate reaction was: "Wow! That's scary! Why? She has a beautiful face, but she looks like a rape victim, lying on the ground like that."
◙ Another fascinating gut response, from my writer/artist (woman) friend: "Just like Beatrix LeStrange after she lost Voldemort ... she's totally desolate. Something happened, and she's feeling lost & angry at the same time. She's evil, but she loved him. She's a strong woman, a powerful woman ... not a victim."
◙ "Why does this make me think of a Greek tragedy? ... She reminds me of the seeress Cassandra....doomed to always see the truth and never be believed..."
Other comments:
◙ "Wow, she looks like an Undead or a Zombie ... either that or a heroin addict!"
◙ "She could be a mermaid, washed up and stranded on the beach, maybe trying to reach her human lover?"
◙ "She looks like Susan Sarandon ..."
Please add your own reaction in the comments below :D

This model is amazing & a joy to work with She was totally down with getting wet & dirty on a chilly, damp, drizzly December morning, and like a true Aquarius, seemed to really enjoy running around the beach naked! LOL

The intolerance of the world can deteriorate the purest of souls. Her eyes hunger for help. I love this image!!

Wonderful photo. My reaction was that she seems to be saying "I'll never forgive you!"

Great portrait. it made me think of being washed up on a deserted island, like Robinson Crusoe, although obviously she is not him.

An interesting range of reactions... I too immediately thought of Susan Sarandon and that she's a survivor of some sea disaster. Outside of the technical excellence of this photo (composition, depth of field, tone and texture) what makes this a fantastic photo is the way Dori is looking at your camera. It's as if she is looking at each one of us singularly, and that's probably why each one of us has such a different reaction. Well done to the both of you!

A follow-up comment to what I just posted. After my initial reactions to this picture my "particular story" went on in classic Hollywood fashion; I help her to my beachside cabin where she warms up by a fire...as her tempertaure rises the passion does too....etc...etc...etc. A captivating look by a stunningly beautiful woman in a well crafted picture - spiced by the words you use in last paragraph of your description. Call me if you need an assistant or if you need someone to pose with her - I can easily rearrange my schedule....

She collapsed in a torrent of raw emotion and this is afterwards as she slowly pulls herself back together and begs you with her eyes to help her understand why life is so unfair. Great work!
