If you love an image (whether it's yours or someone else's) and want to make sure others get a chance to see it, you can “feature” it by choosing the “Spotlight” button.
When an image is Spotlighted, it receives enhanced visibility in premium spots throughout the site. Spotlighted images are rotated through these higher-visibility positions to ensure the best opportunity for the images to be seen by JPG users.
If you see a great photo that would make a perfect entry for one of our Shoot Out photo contests but it was uploaded by another user, now you can enter that photo in the contest and, if it wins, you get to share in the contest winnings.
Like a photo editor, if you've got an eye for great work, find it and submit it to a contest. If it wins, since you staked the entry fee, you'll take home part of the prize (the rest, of course, goes to the member who shot the image).

[Alternate Title: "How I Spent Most of 2010"]
Based on a true story . . .
Are you avoiding a JPG “Meet-Up” because you won’t know what to say to strangers?
If so, I want to assure you that your concern is unfounded!
I have participated in several JPG Meet-Ups this year, and I know of my own experience that social skills are NOT necessary!
Last month, for example, Wayne and Judy Wanamaker, Steve and Jean Creamer, Dawn Duffield, and I met in Crystal River, Florida for a JPG Meet-up. We climbed into the van and headed for the river.
Within five minutes, we were riding in silence.
So, to provide my own entertainment, I lowered the visor, pointed at the mirror, and took my shot.
As the image shows, Judy was yakking on the phone and Dawn was checking her camera.
Not shown are Wayne (our driver), who was concentrating on the road, and Steve and Jean, who were busy taking long drags on their cigarettes. it was, like, quiet!
So, if you have nothing to say, don’t worry! Chances are . . . “they” won’t either!
