A few weeks ago, I met a very kind man by chance while I was shooting some photos. During my conversation with him and his friend, I learned that his wife of thirty years had passed away last year around Thanksgiving. She had been an accomplished photographer here in Nashville, and it was clear that he had truly loved her. He told me that she had really enjoyed working with Polaroid film, and then much to my surprise he offered me a wonderful gift of her left over 57 film! He told me that he really wanted to give it to me because he could see that it would mean as much to me as it did to his wife.

I picked the film up earlier this week, but have never shot in large format before. Today my wonderful boyfriend loaned me his Crown Graphic camera and his expertise for my first lesson.

A sad but beautiful story....destiny maybe! Good luck, looks like you're off to a good start.

A soft gasp. My immediate response to this story. I have always loved the concept of handing down, or passing along, treasured items. I cannot wait to see what else appears on your film!

I can't begin to tell you what a wonderful treasure it is to be away for awhile and to return to this. Penny, this is one of the most bittersweet stories I have ever heard. I have to say, there is no one more deserving of such a gift. This story underlines the fact that once in awhile the universe aligns itself properly- I can't imagine a more fitting place for that film to end up.

Quite the story & truly an emotional moment for you no doubt ...I am certain that a portrait of the man who so kindly passed the film on will appear here someday soon along with other marvelous polaroid treasures.
