Doesn't look too scary until I tell you he is perched atop a 2 foot tall fern! My heart skipped a beat when I first noticed it ... big as the back of my hand when I make a fist.
I have not been able to successfully identify the species but have been told it might be a Wolf Spider. The web it's weaving is erractic ... I think he's in his last days.

Yikes! Leggy fella, isn't he? It does resemble a wolf spider. They can get pretty large. Great photo! The contrast and lighting is nice!

This is an amazing capture, I do believe it could be a wolf spider also, I found one in our basement last year, scary as anything !
