Make me hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice. Psalms 51: 7-8

I got out in the cold this morning do this self portrait standing by what is left of our weeping willow tree after it fell to the ground from our wind storm in October... It was a frigid 0 degrees but a beautiful day regardless. The broken limbs braced in the snow remind me of giant legs...

No words were spoken
As limbs were broken.
The wind was loud,
Drowning out the sound
Of the weeping willow
Once tall and proud,
Crashing to the ground
From its 100 year sojourn.

I think it has been reborn
To stand with giant legs
Anchored in the snow...
If only it could rejoice
So that we may hear
Again its cheerful voice,
Whistling thru' the willow
Into the New Year...
Poetry by me, AJP

Such a beautiful SP, Andrea. Love your poem, too. Still feel bad about the loss of your gorgeous weeping willow, but must say what remains of it looks like a fascinating sculpture.

Even in its broken state it makes a beautiful setting for your wonderful SP. I love your poem too. The limbs do look like legs.
