Q: Why are some of the contest photos obviously photoshopped?

A: Do you know?

I am speechless when I saw the photo as the enclosure was pretty dark (I could not really see much actually when I took the photo). When I saw this on my LCD screen, I was like "Wow!" as the expression looks almost human to me.

I am open as to what you think this world's largest owl (Great Grey Owl) will say :)

In the Birds Talking photo essay.

He looks a little wary, but also very alert keeping an eye on what you are doing...I think he is mostly curious of your camera not exactly knowing what it is you have in your hand. If he could talk, he might ask you if it is something to eat....Wonderful image of this intelligent looking owl.

I can actually imagine this owl saying, "Please hurry and take my portrait as I have a great deal more to do than sit here like a bump on a pickle while you compose." The expression is indeed wary, a bit impatientt and a touch arrogant. Love it.
