The castle of Rötteln in Lörrach, colloquially called Röttler Schloss, lies in the extreme southwest of Baden-Württemberg, (Germany) and sits on a wooded hilltop (422 m) visible for miles around.
The castle ruins lie on the cliff top of a steep eastern slope in the lower Wiesental. A railway bridge leads you from the lower to the upper castle.

My Great-Great-Great-Great Grandmother was born at this castle. She was the gatekeeper's daughter.
