WOUNDED IN ACTION

Nuristan, Afghanistan, 4 November, 2006. SPC Jason Westbrook receives treatment from SPC. Steven Dorrell after taking RPG shrapnel through his right hand,neck and face. Insurgents commonly attack US convoys with RPGs and small arms in order to disrupt the country's fledgling government.

    I'm the one in the photo and I think that jeremiah did a great job taking this picture. It's a great reminder for me and everytime I look at it I realize the brotherhood that we all had over there. Thanks Jeremiah

    I am the wounded soldier's mother and all I can say as I wipe tears from my eyes, is thank you from the bottom of my heart, Sgt Dorrell, for all that you did to save my son. Your heroic and caring actions saved his life and you will never be forgotten by Jason and his family. And as for the photographer, Ridgeway, I've seen all your work and it's all wonderful. It captures every aspect of your lives over there and those of the Afghani people, but the emotion and brotherhood my son spoke about is all captured in this one photo. Great work!

    The expresion and the closeness of the medic and the soldier gives one the sense of the urgency. I read the wounded soldiers Momma's comment. Bless her heart and the soliers. I am glad to know he is all right.
