The sign reads "USA=FAG NATION" His parents made him hold this while hundreds yelled and protested against them. They were protesting a local church for being "fag enabalers". Other signs read, "NYPD FIREFIGHTERS IN HELL", "GOD HATES YOU", "AMERICA IS DOOMED"..
Way to raise your kids.

So sad that we have such hate in this country. Doesn't make me wonder why so many people in the world hate the US.....

I think he looks... closed. Not confused or unsure. He's pulling himself away from the people who disagree with his family. I think if we could see his face, his eyes would look determined, maybe a little scared, a little hateful. Maybe I am over-thinking this.
