Landsýn: View to land from sea.

The statue Landsýn standing by Strandakirkja, is crafted by Gunnfríði 1953. The statue is an engel, that saved a ship from stranding, and the crue from drowning. The engel sterd the ship to Engilsvík (Engel bay) in very bad weather. No land could be seen, and they were lost, when they see this engel holding a bright glowing cross. The captain sterd toward the engel and landed safely in Engilsvík. Naw the statue is there to guide all seamen safely to shore.

The story was added by request from Elfriede.
