Sunday Morning at the Washington Monument

(Washington DC)

Only a couple of photographers, a few joggers and some bikers were down the street that Sunday before 7am. But it was worth it. The weather was great. The light was great. And the Monument was great (as always). Very nice conditions for a photo session. The biker seemed fascinated (as I was) by the stateliness of the Washington Monument in front of the sun. I shot this image with a wide-angle. I set the ISO at 400, to allow a combination of speed and depth of field able to block the movement of the rider and to focus both the foreground and the monument in the background. I used the excellent Canon Speedlite 580EX to better balance the light on the street and the biker, without overexposing the area with grass and the monument.

Canon EOS 40D; Lens: Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM
10mm; 1/250 sec; f/14; ISO 400
