This is the main spring, where kayakers and snorklers are enjoying playtime with the manatees. The manatees are usually unafraid and will interact with snorklers. There are stringent laws as to the way swimmers are to behave around manatees, so as not to frighten them. The mothers will flee with their calves, as they shield them from being harassed. It is against the law to pursue a manatee.
