Such a wise bird. Can he fly Judy? Maybe he can for it looks like he's on a branch. The striking colours on his feathers are soft, and his eyes so deep blue. Never knew owls eyes were blue, always thought they were brown. No, I've come to the conclusion that it's the reflection of the sky in his eyes that has turned them blue, after deeper thought. Maybe....maybe not. :)

Thanks for the great comments, Sue and Don. The sky is reflecting in his eyes, giving them a blue cast. His wing is permanently disabled, so he can't fly. He climbs the post. I have photographed him several different times in this same place. I just love him, because he always looks straight at me with those big round eyes.

In southern India, the cries of an Owl were interpreted by number: One hoot was an omen of impending death; two meant success in anything that would be started soon after; three represented a woman being married into the family; four indicated a disturbance; five denoted coming travel; six meant guests were on the way; seven was a sign of mental distress; eight foretold sudden death; and nine symbolized good fortune.
