A mother elephant looks over her two offspring as they graze on grass in Tarangire National Park. Elephants gestation period is 22 months which results in strong mother/child bonds. Family units are led by a matriarch who guides the herd through seasonal migrations and hands down her knowledge to all her kin. This fascinating animal continues to struggle to survive due to the high cost of Ivory in the orient resulting in a resurgence of poaching in the region.

Such a beautiful image. It goes to show the amount of love an animal can feel. Mom is nurturing and protecting and even big brother is looking over the little one.
