This is my sweet snake Jackie. She is a ball python and is about 4 foot long now. I have had her for about 12 or 13 years. I rescued her from a pet dealer at a flea market. Her living conditions were horrible so I paid $40 for her and took her home. I also reported the man for cruelty to animals. He is now out of business but I am so glad I have my snake. She got caught up in her light kit trying to escape a few years ago and cut herself open. I found a vet that said they worked on reptiles and would take her on a Sunday. Three days later they said I could pick her up. The cut was even worse and I could see her little lungs breathing in and out. I took her to the pet store and he and I sewed her back up. I also had to give her antibiotic shots for several days. I reported the vet but he is still open. You can not win all the time.
Thanks so much for the spotlight Linda!!

Regenia, you are very special! Poor little thing.....even a small reptile deserves kindness. I hope she's OK, now.

She is great Nancy! This happened some years back. I spent a fortune on a better escape proof cage and she eats all the time. Thank you!!

You are so generous and giving, not only to humanity, but to the animal kingdom as well. It's so wonderful that you go the extra step and report abuse where you see it. This is a fantastic shot of your Jackie!

This is a great shot and You loved this animal....lovely narration...Python is a nonpoisonous snake and the origin is Asian country... I know few traders are selling this animal for the sake of money. You have rescued this animal and taking care of jackie!!!You have made him healthy. Did you find out whether it is a male or female? Did you think of its breeding programme. Please findout a suitable pair for Jackie.Vote for your great shot and long live jackie!!!
-
Regenia Brabham said (29 Jan 2012):
Thank you so much everyone. She is a girl Saroj and I won't breed her. She had some serious damage from the light which required so many stiches and left a scar. I just feed her and take her out to explore when it is warm enough.

Awww...Jackie is one very lucky snake to have such a kind - and caring - human to look after her! Good on ya for rescuing her and giving her a loving home. She looks very happy, basking in the sun ;-) I genuinely enjoyed your narrative, Regenia. It immediately captures one's attention with the first sentence - especially the "sweet" part - and if you say she's sweet, I believe you.
It's a very nice shot and I wish you luck in the competition. -
