Here is a shot of a color pencil drawing of mine displayed in the front room of the Pizza Shoppe in Benson a small neighborhood in north Omaha where I have a big art show. The show has been extended another month as they had a cancellation for the month of February. They have a row of booths in the front room split by a set of double doors that enter into the big room meant for music, art and meetings/events.

The color of the wall goes really well with my drawings and this one is no different.

This drawing features one of a number of unique circular crane designs of mine, this one being the Sado crane so named for the Island of Sado that the 12th century Buddhist monk Nichiren was banished to for propagating a different brand of Buddhism in the era of feudal Japan. Nichiren's teachings were unique in a way that taught enlightenment can be had IN THIS LIFE, quite different from the current teachings of the day that told the people you must suffer many lifetimes in order to even have a shot. Nichiren's teachings paralleled the very Teachings of Siddharhta Gautamo aka Sakyamuni Buddha focusing on the Lotus sutra as the culmination of 40 years of teaching. Sado island was a horrible place where the ruling party or Bakufu (military rulers) sent those who opposed them, it was also a graveyard and dumping ground of those who had been executed, Nichiren was sent there only after a divine intervention at the time of his execution, when a falling star suspended itself in a tree near to where the soldiers has taken Nichiren to do the dastardly deed, they had the holy bejeebers frightened from them and thusly they thought he posssessed 'special powers' and thought better of executing such a man, so they accompanied him to Sado Island where the cranes flew overhead and gave Nichiren enjoyment during his years there. He did not die there as expected, and was pardoned and moved to Minobu island where he lived out the remainder of his years.
