Assignment #55: Photograph a Significant Outfit

Learning to Love You More, Assignment 55

I bought this dress at a thrift store in Great Bend, Kansas for $5. I wore it often in Lawrence, KS, a liberal college town where a sense of irony in dress was appreciated. One night in particular I went to see Quintron (one of my favorite bands at the time) play at a small club, and had the dress signed by Miss Pussycat of Quintron.

Later that night I was crossing the street in my eye-catching lamé when my now-husband said to his then-girlfriend: "She looks like a princess."

Highly recommend the book.

This looks like a dress that Karen O from Yeah Yeah Yeahs would have worn a couple of years ago!

So few of us can adequately ROCK the gold lame...so rock it, Laura. You rock it for all of us.

Haha, thanks Shannon. After many years the maneater part of me is long since quieted, and my husband can't stand the dress. A fun memory nonetheless!
