The end of an era?

Blame it on the change to the opening hours, the smoking ban, the collapse of the banks or the continual increase of taxes on alcohol and the abundance of insanely cheap alcohol in supermarkets up and down the country.
It's becoming an all too familiar sight here in the UK these days. In fact I'll be surprised if there's anyone out there who can't name at least one public house they used to drink in that's now closed.
This was once the centre of our community, a meeting place where we put the world to rights over a drink or two and the starting point for many bands.
If something doesn't change soon the public house will only exist in open air museums dotted around our country, like so many other relics of our past and that would be such a shame.
