This gentleman is Robert. I had just finished up with a commercial swimwear shoot on Sauvies Island just outside of Portland, Oregon.

When I looked up and seen Robert standing on the top of a small hill overlooking the river bank. I approached him and we spoke sparingly about the weather, the state of the economy, and whatever else crossed our paths.

When we had finished chit chatting, I asked to capture the moment. I took several images and went back over to shake hands and grab an address as to where to send him a copy or two of the images I shot. In our exchange of info, an older lady came up and introduced herself, as Robert's wife Barbara. I was happy to meet her, as well, and I captured the couple together on the beach hillside that day.

Upon getting ready to leave Barbara mentioned to me that meeting me was a pleasant surprise as this day was Robert's 72nd birthday. So I turned to Robert and said...."Surprise. . .You have Birthday Photos!"

I then parted way and went to pack my gear back into my truck and head back home. I later emailed the photos, I captured to Robert and Barbara. To my surprise, I got this email message in return.

After you left, I realized that I had omitted to get a picture of YOU! When you passed us in your car, I frantically tried to wave you down so I could shoot one, but to no avail.
