Sovereign Hill is an outdoor museum presenting the story of Australia's goldrush history. This working tourist exhibition opened in November 1970 and is an Australian Tourist icon. A living museum with a strong emphasis on working machinery and exhibits, costumed interpeters and visitor participation.
We spent quite a few hours at this tourist mecca, delving into the past and shopping, of course. We could have spent a lot more hours and still not seen it all.

It looks like a great place to spend a day or more. Colleen McCullough is one of my very favorite authors, and she writes a lot of historical fiction about Australia. Excellent capture!
