Love Shadows
This photo was taken in Madrid, Spain in March of 2004, just a few days before the Atocha train bombings. I was out on a balcony eight stories up. When I looked down at the street (Eloy Gonzalo), I noticed that the sun was hitting passersby at such an angle that their shadows trailed behind them like elongated giants. I grabbed my camera and caught this older couple holding hands. It is one of my favorite photos to date, partly because I think it's a good representation of how peaceful life in Madrid was before the worst terrorist attack on Spanish soil occurred a few days later.
