Here, where everyone talks to anyone and family stays in constant touch, mobile phone is the right thing at a time that could have been right long before.
The huge country population is spread out in more then 600,000 small villages, land line phones never had a chance to become mainstream because of infrastructure costs.
It was only a matter of time until prices of mobile technology became affordable to the rural public.
Still comparatively these are expensive.
My stainless steel coffee kit cost Rs. 60 it's a high quality product of local heavy industries. A basic mobile phone starts from 10 times this cost.
In the USA, for example, this coffee kit would cot over $10 while a basic pre-paid mobile handset starts from about twice the cost only.
