My friend Babu decided to open a bicycle dealership in Kallakurichi.

Actually that happened many years ago but he became my friend only a month ago.

I passed in front of his shop one dusty morning (all daytime hours are dusty on Gandhi street.) and he waved me to come inside.

He doesn't speak much English, but as many other here, that doesn't stand in the way of making friends.

Just a few minutes after we met he sent an employee and once he came back with a brand new T- shirt (from a store near by), he gifted it to me. Just to make it clear it was a Rs. 200 shirt (3 motel nights worth of value).

I later gifted this shirt to another friend. It was a bit too big for me.

Later I came over to say hello and I was invited to his home above the store. His wife and son speak fluent English and I got a rare cup of delicious brewed coffee (they bring freshly blended beans from Chennai. - the nearby big city).

I was so greatfull and they told me how they prepare. They make a concentrate and use it all day with addition of hot milk and sugar.

Late I bought a personal filter kit.

Just now, efore I get ready to leave town and continue on my way, I edited a postcard for him with my old (not so faithfull...) BSA trike.

That was a 3 year restoration project I took once I released the army and into my univesity years. I worked every weekend and vacation I had.

Building the frame from scrach metal pipes and taking the bike apart to buts and bolt. I also converted it from a clumsy commercial vehicle to a lighter and more classy looking trike.

In the end it came to a stop and still rests I my parents yard, waiting for a glorious times comeback.

To my Indian friend and friends to come.

Kallakurichi, Vippupuram dist., Tamil Nadu, India.
