This Elgin pocket watch was given to my father when he graduated from eight grade in 1918. His father was not in good health, so my father tended the farm and did not attend high school. He always worn this watch on a leather 'chain' and stashed it in an upper pocket of his overalls. His four sons graduated from college, three of them teachers. Two obtained their Masters Degree. I am his eldest.
