Perched at the corner of the roof on the Nashville Parthenon, this sculpture appears to be guarding all.
(not bad for a "from the car" shot)

Rather handsome for a gargoyle! Great shot, Nancy! (From a car????)

OK, Judy. It's a griffin--not a gargoyle!

A griffin is a mythological creature with the body of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle which guards treasures. At first I thought that it was a gargoyle, but this sculpture comes closer to being a griffin.
