Part of a series of photos taken when I was recently visiting Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, about 3 hours drive from Kampala on the road to Gulu.
The sanctuary was founded in 1997, but our friend arrived in Uganda in 2000 to start setting it up.
Coincidentally we had met prior to our arrival in Uganda, in Maralal, Kenya, when we were both doing an overland journey to Uganda; Yvonne and her then partner were driving from Holland, and my husband and I driving from London.
The sanctuary is now managed by another couple from SA.

I am so taken by this... I actually know someone who has taken these shots! ;) (Can I make up stories about how you walked right up to her, grabbed her by the horn, and told her to stay still?)

Awesome capture, this rhino looks like she/he's made of clay and is baking in the sun.
