The outside square is one tier of a Japanese lunch box. The inside of each of the four tier lunch box is cinnabar lacquer. The outside is black lacquer with a gold medallion on each side. The inside box in new Korean measuring box. They come in different sizes. I want to stress that this is a new box. I would never think of painting an old used one with its aged character. I have about twenty five old one. I painted this one white. The two circles are Japanese lacquer pieces. The stylized flowers and leaves are from the kiri/paulownia tree. It is the Seal of the Prime Minister of Japan.
