The night of June 13th my 2 year old Newfoundland developed "Bloat" a very serious situation where the stomach twists and can kill a dog in just a few hours. I noticed the signs immediately and rushed her to the emergency vet. During surgery it was realized that getting Bloat was a blessing in disguise because they found that she had a another very serious problem which was a Pericardial Diaphragmatic Hernia. I was told that her chances of survival were slim but she held on. The surgeon said it is a miracle that she survived but a week later you can hardly even tell she had life saving surgery other than the shaved stomach/chest and the 20" long incision. Another week or two she should be as good as new. A big THANK YOU to the Tualatin Emergency Vet for saving her life!!!
