Shooting in an area of Los Angeles, CA that's known as Skid Row, I followed an old man as he carried home his groceries in a ratty burlap bag. I could make out a couple bottles of wine, some bread and noticed the bottom had a small tear in it. As he walked, the object, an orange, began to widen the tear until, just before he shut the door behind him, two oranges fell out. I waited for him to return and get them. When he didn't, I took this image at his hotel door. I still feel sad looking at it, knowing he may not have realized he lost the oranges and by the time he did, they'd be gone.
