Tasmania, once part of Australia’s mainland is divided by the treacherous ocean of Bass Strait. A distance of 430kms from Melbourne, it is the smallest state in Australia but offers spectacular views and Heritage places where adventure, culture, heritage and luxury converge.

A flight only takes less than an hour from Melbourne but to really enjoy the adventure of getting there; the two Ferries, operating from Melbourne & Sydney are an enjoyable experience. The Ferries, “Spirit of Tasmania (1)” & “Spirit of Tasmania (2)” depart daily.

Leaving from Melbourne, as I have done on several ocassions, the trip takes about 11 hours. The Ferry is equiped with restaurants, single and double sleeping cabins, comfortable lounges and cinemas, etc!

Great shot Chris, and narrative, as always. That looks so tranquil and inviting, how could anyone ever leave?

I'm not sure about the long ferry journey, but is sure a beautiful haven to come to, Chris. Is that why the saying "the Mainlanders are between the 'Devil' and the deep blue sea?" :)
