This beautiful angel. kneeling with hands clasped in earnest and reverent thought and prayer, remembering those who have passed on, was found in Calvary Cemetery in Sioux City Iowa.

She was one of less than a handful of angels in a very large cemetery. One sees fewer and fewer angels in tomb/gravestones these days, it seems the attitude and thought towards these creatures some theorize as aliens of a celestial sort, is becoming lost and forgotten.

They strike a melancholy tone, don't they? And, the death rate was so high in the Midwest in the 19th Century. It's a wonder that these magnificent sculptures were available there. I suppose the trains made it possible.

I would love to have a creature of angelic beauty to protect and guide my family and I after we pass, but holy smoke those thing are expensive! Beautiful image, Steven

Beautifully captured, Steven! I notice to last year while visiting local cemeteries that they were mostly void of angels and any other statuary! It is too bad. There is such a beautiful sense of sorrow in these that address our loss and provide us comfort!
