I lifted up mine eyes and looked and behold a man with a measuring line in his hand...Zechariah 2: 1

We were running late
And on our way...
To celebrate
Mother's 102nd birthday,
When we saw a stranger
We would ne'er meet...
The worst danger
For him was the heat...
One hand held a cane
And the other carried a load.
A picture there was to gain,
On this lonely road...
Poetry by me AJP

I shot this picture from the passenger's side of the car on July 17th...The humidity was terrible that day and you can see the mist in the trees...It was most unusual to see this stranger walking in that kind of heat. My heart went out to him but we did not offer him a ride because in this day and age you just cannot trust everyone. He shall remain the stranger on a lonely road.

Thank you very much Ann Reece for the spotlight!
Thank you also Deborah Downes for your spotlight too..

This is a perfect image for the theme!!! He does look lonesome but I am glad that you did not offer him a ride. It is such a shame that in this day and age we have to be cautious as he may have been wanting to trick someone into stopping so he could rob them or worse. Caution needs to come before courtesy and that is what things have come to because of thieves posing as an innocent just needing a helping hand. That said, why would someone be out in terrible heat, dressed in clothing that would be hot and walking along the road. He could be perfectly innocent ... or not.

you said..Caution does come before courtesy in this kind of situation...

Yes, sadly, we live in an age when caution is a must. Would sure hate to wear black and jeans out in that heat. Love how his badana pops. Also love the curve. Great shot and entry, Andrea.

Perfect for the theme, and I agree with is sad that we must be so wary of strangers. I remember hitchhiking in my youth, both here and in Europe, never giving a thought to the danger that may have existed. I wish that kind of innocence still existed.

What an eloquent and rather touching capture. The imagination runs wild with stories of the mysterious hiker. Great entry!

I love the pov in this image, and the fact that we'll never know just why this lonely traveller was here. A most intriguing candid capture, and absolutely perfect for the theme!!
