A wonderful composition, and a valuable addition to your essay. Reminds me of our years in Rio de Janeiro (1954-56), when denizens of the nearby "favela" (i.e., slum) would come down from the hills and fill up 5-gallon cans with brackish water from the canal that ran in front of our apartment. The women would hoist those cans and carry them on their heads back into the hills.
