They drank of that spiritual rock that followed them; And that Rock was Christ..
I Corinthians 10: 4

When connecting natures pictures
With key words from Scriptures.
The symbolism of the language...
I don't always comprehend..
Nor is it my intention to offend;
I try my best to encourage
And find the positive outlook
Of verses in the good book
To fit with the image...
I see Christ as the rock
Who gives me courage.
Poetry by me, AJP

My husband found this rock earlier this spring that came up from the earth as he was digging our little garden with a pitch fork..He remembered slicing through a rock several years ago with a rototiller which unbeknown to him at the time formed a cross from the blade. I just discovered it myself today outside and found out the story of how the rock was sliced into it that formed this cross.

I think it was meant for me to find this rock today as when I talked to my mother tonight on the phone who has dementia, she has completely forgotten now that I am her daughter or that she ever had a daughter by my name... Up until now she has remembered who I am. It is heartbreaking to hear my mother's confusion who used to be my rock to lean on...but I have learned to accept what can't be helped and I thank God for the good years and the influence she has had on my life.

    Definitely a great find and I am sure it meant a lot to you. So sorry about your mothers dementia and how she doesn't remember you. I know how that hurts, my dad at times did not remember that he had a daughter and I was his only daughter. Don't give up, maybe the next time your mom's mind will be better and she will know who you are.

    Sorry about your mom, it must be heart braking. I like the texture of this rock!

    Thank you all for your comments...Yes, Joerg, it is heart breaking but at the same time I have to remind myself she is 102 years old and I am grateful that she is well taken care of at the Nursing Home where she is a resident....It really does not hurt me, Ann because I can't take it personally...I just feel sad for my mother because I realize that she can't help what circumstance has dealt her and I know if she had a choice this is not what she would choose for herself.

    It's so interesting how one will come across something that helps compensate for the losses in our lives, like what you are experiencing with your mother's condition. I take these things as a reminder that He is still watching over us in a special way, and I can tell that you do too, Andrea. Thanks for sharing this.. it is such a lovely, meaningful image!
