In 1968, Yousuf Karsh and I were being interviewed on the same radio program in Detroit, and during the discussion before we went on air, I made this documentary portrait with my Rollie medium format camera. He was a master at studio lighting and he clearly had some doubt as to my ability to make a decent image with a slow camera and low available light. He was always posed and simply watched me do it - which of course, is a clear view of who he was rather than what he looked like.
