Several recent posts have reminded us that many of our friends are no longer here at JPG.

The truth is that the friendships we form at JPG are often very special.

In the last two years, I have personally met more than fifty (50) JPG members. That means a lot to me.

Recent meet-ups have included (clockwise, from upper left): Karin Burton (with me at The Cracker Barrel, in Manassas, Virginia), Steve Baker (with me in front of Trinity Church, Newport, Rhode Island), Mary Brown (Phoenix, Arizona), Dave and Patty Gross (Castine, Maine), Rob Wilson and Maria Mutch (North Kingston, Rhode Island), Jen Bellefleur (during her visit to Nashville), and Nancy and Roland Richard (Bristol, Rhode Island, with Warren Mangione in the background, whom I met in Sunapee, New Hampshire).

I am not giving up on JPG. It isn’t a perfect site, but what site is?

I am also hoping that all of our friends will eventually return to JPG. We’re waiting for them.

As always, thanks for stopping by!

You have some wonderful memories of the many friends you have met, Richard.and what is important is that you still have those memories...It is my birthday today but my mother who has dementia no longer remembers who I am or that she ever gave birth to me. Thankfully she still remembers my older sister yet:) I agree with Donald...I think of JPG as a learning experience of the realities of life in pictures....and what would we do if we did not take pictures to preserve of our loved ones who are no longer in our lives?

Beautiful message & collage...I miss the friends who are no longer on JPG, but I realize some of them are on other sites I can visit, and am thankful for the friends I still have here, and all their love & support! Thank you everyone! Thank you, Richard for this wonderful collage!

Many of you have become family to me. I worry when they are away. I am a member of flickr and redbubble but it is not the same. I am staying in hopes that the others will return. A terrific tribute.

A lovely collage of friends you have made through JPG, Richard! There is a certain intangible quality about JPG that spells friendship, and I think that's what keeps a lot of us here. I do hope that those who have left will reconsider, I miss them too.

Very well said, Richard. I have too many friends here to leave, although it has been a difficult decision for me. We need to stick together because "that's what friends are for."

Richard, this is a beautiful tribute to friendship and your friends. I am honoured to be in your circle of friends here on Jpg which I have just started to be active on again and already, I have contacts I can call friends. :) I almost met up with Paperini and Elyseo but wasn't able to, due to circumstances beyond my control. Next year perhaps. I have made some really good friends through photography and I hope you all can come down to Borneo one day!

When I visit the site of Richard is always with great curiosity, his photos are always moments of real life and live with him and there is always someone close. It is not the photo itself that affects but what they represent and are always happy moments to share with others.

This is probably the third time since I joined that there has been an exodus of members. The first was when JPG was having financial difficulties in early 2009. The second was about a year ago I think when the "nudists" made their first appearance "en masse" it seemed. The third is recent and I think it derives its impetus for reasons similar to the second. I have stayed throughout like many members because JPG is is source of friendship, inspiration and remarkable artistry. I have not attended a "meet-up" yet but suspect I will in the near future. I have however, met several people who I can say are real friends and for that I am grateful. I am going to stay and will ignore the "background noise". I believe those that have left will return if they know the rest of us are here waiting their return. Cheers.

You are SO very right, Dick..........When I first joined this site two years ago, I had no idea that so many of you would become "family". I know I speak for the others that attended our meet-up in Nashville say "Thank YOU", my friend for making THAT happen!! I have been absent more than I would like from JPG, there are so many of you that I only see on here......I promise to squeeze in more time, I've missed you all!!

Though I am involved with Redbubble, I am drawn back to jpg. You're right, Dick. No other site is so conducive to friendships. So, for whatever it's worth, I won't let the nudists chase me away!!! And those are the "bare" facts. LOL

I have been on JPG for three years and I treasure the friends that I have made on the site. A lot of people did leave when we had a big controversy and I see a few drifting back now. I left for a while myself and came back, I missed my friends here tremendously!!!

Very impressive, dear Richard. One day we'll meet, too, and I'm so looking forward to that:) Despite its faults, JPG is the best photography site. It remains the easiest to navigate and the best place to develop photography skills within a strong community of our choice. Also a wonderful place to make dear friends. I miss the friends who chose to leave, but remain hopeful they'll return. Meanwhile, I keep in touch with them via FB and RB.

I spend most of my internet time on either Flickr or JPG...I too have survived JPG's near death experience in January of 2009...I didn't leave then and will not now...I do miss contacts that have left (some of which are now on Flickr or RedBubble)...But the new ones I make every day helps with the loss...Cheers to those who have decided to stay...
