A Very Sad Raccoon Tale ~ A New Years Dedication
If you love an image (whether it's yours or someone else's) and want to make sure others get a chance to see it, you can “feature” it by choosing the “Spotlight” button.
When an image is Spotlighted, it receives enhanced visibility in premium spots throughout the site. Spotlighted images are rotated through these higher-visibility positions to ensure the best opportunity for the images to be seen by JPG users.
If you see a great photo that would make a perfect entry for one of our Shoot Out photo contests but it was uploaded by another user, now you can enter that photo in the contest and, if it wins, you get to share in the contest winnings.
Like a photo editor, if you've got an eye for great work, find it and submit it to a contest. If it wins, since you staked the entry fee, you'll take home part of the prize (the rest, of course, goes to the member who shot the image).

Broken leg or hip? As I was on my way to the drug store, I saw a car swerve. So I stopped. Heavy traffic and all. Smart? No. Would I do it again? Yes. There was a very young raccoon in the middle of the road. I saved this little coon from the middle of a very busy road this evening around 6:30 PM. Soon the police were on site so at least if I got run over, I thought perhaps they may at least get a description of the car that did it. The little coon was already hit, I presume by a car. He sat in the middle of a 5 lane road. One young lady finally did stop and came to help me. I will be ever grateful to her for that. She brought a box from her car and we finally got the little fella in a box. The young lady made several calls to see where we could get him some help. Must find him/her help tomorrow AM as the ER 24/7 animal clinic does not treat wild animals and the Environmental Center is now closed for the day . I just know if there had been a Vet I could have taken him to then, he could have been saved.

(After I had put in the dry cat food, I realized he was to small to chew it as he had baby teeth, so I added water like the wild raccoons Mama's do who eat here.) It was all for naught but I know I tried and will never regret that -
11:15 PM Shallow, labored respiration’s. Tiny Tim has passed away. The story has ended :-( RIP little one and my Rainbow Bridge family will be there to meet you at the Gate. I am so sorry I could not do more for him. All I know just now is, I am so sorry, yet also so Thankful to the young lady - Ashley Brooks- that stopped to help us.
