This is Bernd Rauschenbach, literary scholar, author, performer and custodian of Arno Schmidt'sestate, who was one of the pivotal writers in recent German literary history. Rauschenbach is shown here reading from Arno Schmidt's "Kaff, auch Mare Crisium", a novel which hasn't lost any of its appeal since its 1960 publication. The reading took place on Oktober 23, 2011 at the Zimmertheater in Tübingen (Germany), a lovely venue in Tübingen's old town, just a stone's throw away from the place where Friedrich Hölderlinonce lived. Rauschenbach is a master at reading Arno Schmidt's complicated, dark and deeply funny works. Thoroughly entertaining and thought provoking at once Rauschenbach's appearances are a far cry from the run of the mill literature readings so common these days. German speaking enthusiasts of literature shouldn't miss them, as their English speaking counterparts shouldn't miss Arno Schmidt's works - "Kaff, auch Mare Crisium" for instance is available as B/Moondocks.
Tübingen's Zimmertheater is always worth a visit: 1| 2
