North of Missoula, Montana is the Flathead Indian Reservation. The reservation was created through a July 16, 1855 Treaty. The Flathead Indian Reservation is an area of 1,938 square miles. The reservation is home to the Bitterroot Salish, Kootenai, and Pend d'Oreilles Tribes - also known as the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes of the Flathead Nation. They are indeed some of the first Real Americans. ( This picture is also from my trip to Montana in the 1990's)
