Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord...Psalms 127: 3

I have been going through some old photographs to scan from my late mother's photo albums and this studio portrait of her I dearly love...The style of clothing for children in those days and the hair styles were so pretty...

When my folk's house burned down in 1951, many immediate family pictures
were destroyed in the house fire...but the ancestor pictures were saved out in a shed away from the house, including some pictures of my mother as a child that did not get burned.. We had just moved to that house 6 weeks before it burned to the ground so some of the older pictures were in storage and had not yet been brought to the house, thankfully.

This is sooooo precious, Andrea! It can be so fun to look back at old photo from days gone by, it can also be sad. She is adorable here. I will be thinking of you especially during this holiday season. I lost my about about this time of year a few years back. God bless you and keep you, Andrea!

What a great photo of your mother at age 3!!! She is so pretty and I love that dress and shoes! I have one of my grandmother at that age but it is so fragile that I am afraid to move it.

Thank you everyone for your kind response. What I loved to see on my mother was her beautiful smile which in later years I didn't see as often because she was missing my father so much, when he died in 2003. But when she did smile it was special, as it came from her heart and lit up her whole face...I think she looks like a little angel on this portrait and the photographer of that era did a wonderful job on the lighting...When I was scanning it with the program to brighten it up I couldn't help but notice the light around her...I have a little plaque on my wall that I bought years ago with her name Helen and underneath are the words Light..with the verse "I will... give thee for a light..."

A very sweet portrait! I am so glad that you were able to save some of the memories from the fire. Pictures are one of the few things that cannot be replaced.
