For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. I Corinthians 13: 12

Last evening at 4:30 my intention was to shoot a picture of this female cardinal eating peacefully on the feeder..

It was getting dark that time of the night but thought I would take a chance to see what I could do shooting through the window in dim lighting...We weatherize our windows with plastic on the outside to keep the drafts from seeping into our old farm house but it gives some strange effects sometimes with distortions.

The untouched picture from the file is dark and grainy and I almost deleted it until I decided to brighten it up and work with the contrast..and that is all I did with it....the optical illusion astonished me as I could see part of a man's face on the left side that looks like a spirit with a mustache and his eye partly closed and what looks like a Santa face on the other side with a stocking cap..which isn't as clearly defined..I know that not everyone may see the same thing ...but it is still spooky in my opinion and decided to add it to the creepy theme. I shot a few other pictures of the cardinal after this, but the window did not show the same
effect nor distortion as the beginning picture and that's what I find creepy.

Thank you so much, Heather (JanElle) for the Spotlight...I appreciate it!

Thank you for your comments... Ann, I had the same impression and it is bit
unnerving to see something like this appear after I brightened the picture even
though I know it is an optical illusion, it still gave me chills nevertheless. At least the cardinal is looking its sweet natural self:)

Wow....this is fascinating, Andrea! What I see is a character from A Christmas Story by Dickens.....it's the ghost of Christmas yet to come. What a grand and interesting AND creative shot!!!!

Thank you for all of your interesting comments on this picture...photography
can sometimes give us unexpected surprises and I wasn't expecting to see
this show up after I looked at the picture...it was not evident in the window
when I shot the picture of the bird otherwise I wouldn't have stayed calm enough to shoot the picture and the bird would have shown signs of alarm too.. I like your theory on this Patty.."the ghost of Christmas yet to come" sounds good...I like Charles Dickens writings...He was a wonderful author.
